Thank you for trying this theme!

I have chosen Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey Series as my debut theme. The reason is simply
that I enjoyed the series very much. My favorite of the series is the last book: "3001: The Final
Odyssey". I've tried a few of the related themes available but did not quite like them. And since
I had some free time (I'm waiting for my enlistment into National Service), I decided to try my
hands on theme making.

This Space Odyssey Theme is made up of materials from the whole of the series and not only one
particular Space Odyssey, which consists of 2001: A Space Odyssey, 2010: Odyssey Two, 2061:
Odyssey Three and 3001: The Final Odyssey. Hopefully, you will recognize the individual items
that were from each of the those listed above.

Lastly I would like to dedicate this theme to a special friend of mine who has been very tolerant
during the period of my theme making and to all my family members and all the fans of Space
Odyssey out there.

I hope that you will like this theme. If you have any comments or improvements that you would
like to see, do write to me about it. Finally, if you do like this theme and know friends who are
interested in the Space Odyssey series, do tell them about this theme.

Hope to hear from you!

IMPORTANT! (Read this first before extracting the files,
========== unless you are certain of what it will do)

INSTALLATION:
When extracting the files, please choose the root directory only e.g. C:\ and the respective
files will be extracted into the respective folders.
Also included in the Space Odyssey directory are the the starting and shutting down logo files.
If you like them (to preview, use Paint), you can install them by copying LOGO.SYS to your root
directory e.g. C:\ and LOGOW.SYS and LOGOS.SYS to your windows directory e.g. C:\WINDOWS.
*Make sure you backup your original files (the logo files provided by Windows 95) if you want to
reuse them later. You can either rename the files or copy them to another directory for storage.

It is recommended that you rename "My Computer" to "HAL 9000". I will be referring to your
"computer" as "HAL 9000" which one day I hope it really will be. :)

TROUBLESHOOTING??
All wave files are converted to mpeg-3 layer format. (the sound files under PCM would be too big!
mp3 uses only 10% of that amount) If you cannot play or hear the sounds, it means that the codec
is not installed on your HAL 9000.
Download and install Microsoft Netshow and you will be able to hear them as it will install
the codec onto your HAL 9000.
To know more about Microsoft Netshow, please visit the website http://www.microsoft.com/netshow

OTHER INFORMATION
As mentioned above, I hope you will be able to recognize the materials used. (Especially the
icons) If you cannot recognize them and really wanted to know, wait no more for I will tell you
the answer here (for the icons only, write to me to find out about the rest!).

Pointer: Well somebody left his glove here, maybe it belongs to Frank Poole who dropped it when
he's the first to reach Jupiter/Saturn. (depends on which version you prefer)

Busy icon: This is easy right? Yup, it's the book cover of my favorite 3001: The Final Odyssey.
As for the animation, I wonder who got that dumb idea.....

Working icon: If it is too fast, it cannot be help. Try to open more programs and you may catch
a glimpse of the characters. Nevertherless, here is the order of the slides:
1. HAL 9000 (eye)
2. Dave (David Bowman, Dr.?)
3. Frank (Poole, Dr. too?)
4. Walter Curnow (Systems Specialist from 2010)
5. Dr. Maxim Brailovsky (aka Max, Engineering-Structures, Russian? from 2010)
6. Dr. Sivasubramanian Chandrasegarampillai (in short Dr. Chandra, father of HAL 9000, well, he
is known as Dr. Chandra if you follow the books instead.)
7. Captain Tatiana Orlov (aka Tanya, Engineering-Propulsion, Captain of The Cosmonaut Alexei
Leonov, Wife of Dr. Vasili Orlov, Russians? from 2010)
8. Dr. Heywood Floyd
9. SAL 9000 (sister of HAL 9000)
